Garment and Rug Care

Alpaca garments and rugs are easy to maintain and will last a long time if you follow these care instructions.

Garments:

• Gently hand wash in cool water with mild detergent when necessary.
• Never wring or twist to remove water.
• Gently squeeze out excess water.
• Lay the garment between two towels, roll up the towels, and let it rest for a few minutes.
• Dry flat and never hang.
• Gently smooth by hand while wet to remove wrinkles.
• Never use a brush.
• Only dry clean once a year if needed. Ask the cleaner to use fresh solvent in low heat and a process that does not involve tumbling.

Rugs:

• Lightly cover the entire rug with pure cornstarch or baby powder.
• Hang it in the sun for a couple of hours.
• Brush thoroughly with most any hairbrush until the powder is absorbed.
• Repeat the process if necessary, and your piece is revitalized.
• Immediately cover any spill with some type of powder (baking soda, flour, etc.) in order to absorb the spill.
• After the spill has dried, follow the care instructions listed above.
