Andean Community Partnerships

One of Alpaca Mountain's goals/objectives is to improve the lives of the professional sweater and rug artisans as well as their communities; providing superior working conditions, consistent work, and personal benefits.

We support the hand crafted traditions of garment stitching by working directly with the artisans and their communities. This ensures an ethical environment for the artisans by allowing them to work out of their homes or in a centrally located co-op building. Here they can be with their children and family, listen to music, conversate, and freely create masterful garments and rugs.

Through consistent work these artisans can contribute a steady cash flow for their families. With unemployment and poverty levels remaining high throughout Peru, these communities can improve their standard of living through participating in a craft that their culture and heritage has defined.

As a result these communities bond around the work created by the alpaca's natural resource. Roads, schools, buildings, and public service systems improve increasing the standard of living and the internal pride of these peaceful and hard working communities.
